Mildred Shamboko- ChairPerson
Mildred lived in the UK for many years but remains firmly entrenched in Lango culture and traditions. As the saying goes, you can take a Lango girl from Lango but you cannot take the Lango out of her. “I feel honoured and privileged to hold the position of Chairman of Lango Cultural Foundation (UK)”. Mildred is focused, great problem solver and always strives to do her absolute best in everything she is involved in. Integrity, respect for all, emotional intelligence and the fear of God has always been the epitome of Mildred’s character attribute. She has always pledged to do her very best to make Lango Cultural Foundation (UK) flourish and to keep Lango culture and heritage alive.
With a sizeable number of Lango people living in the diaspora and subsequently an increasing number of children being born and raised away from Lango region, the inevitable result is a loss of Lango cultural norms, language, customs, and changes in identity and concept of self. More than ever before there is a need to preserve, develop and promote Lango culture, customs and heritage. Lango Cultural Foundation (UK) exist to do just that. Our vision is to create an online library of Lango history, folklore, music, songs, dances, proverbs and literature which people from all parts of the world can access freely.
