COVID 19 Response
Since the beginning of the COVID 19 Pandemic, several impact assessments have been carried out by various governmental and non-governmental bodies and the commonalities in these findings show that COVID -19 has had a disproportionate impact on Certain groups within the UK communities; People from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds have been impacted more.
Lango Cultrual Foundation UK’s primary beneficiaries fall within this group.
Together with the National Lottery Community fund, LCF has been able to offer first-hand response to the community members identified to be most affected.
We believe, in times like this, not only material support is required but mental, social and wellbeing support which calls for presence, sensitivity and love while looking after our beneficiaries.

Saturday Online Breakfast
Lack of social interaction has been one of the main attributes of COVID-19 and Lockdown. Unfortunately, the remedy to this required that Lango Cultural Foundation and its members devise means upon which social interaction can be achieved without compromising the social distancing rules and other preventative measures put in place.
Sponsored by The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports in partnership with The National Lottery Fund, LCF UK Saturday breakfast is where members join in a light conversation with each other over Zoom. This virtual meeting has helped members who are self isolating find opportunity to interact with other member so the community over a cup of tea.
Also, the breakfast time has been a good means to identify vulnerabilities, need and ensuring we check on members wellbeing.
Community online fitness
Throughout the Lockdown period, there was one common phrase from most people “Next Stop Fridge”. Yes, you may not have said it out loud but actions speak louder than words.
As community members were in Lockdown, we needed something to draw their mind, body and soul to some form of activity, as a result, LCF teamed up with “CORONA EXERCISE BOOST WITH DENIS” to offer community members daily exercises online via Zoom. This was dubbed the “Kalatin Amuka Exercise Nights”
This initiative went a long way in getting members to shape and combatting mental health issues resulting from prolonged isolation.

KONY WAD WU which means “Brothers Keeper” was coined supported by the Community Lottery Fund. A dedicated line acquired and shared for any member of the community to call and chat with someone on the other side of the line.

Comments, Feedback and Testimonials
“I felt hopeless and deserted within the first month of lockdown. It seemed like every door was shutting up on me, with no one to speak to, my only help was the TV. When LCF contacted me, gave me a brand new Laptop and asked me to connect with community via zoom, i felt reborn again. ”
